..TKC 93-97..13th year anniversary..

kolej tunku kurshiah
kolej ulung di negara malaysia
kami pelajar bersumpah
agar teguh patuh memeliharanya
kolej tunku kurshiah kolej mulia berjasa
moga moga tuhan memberi rahmatnya
sentosa kolej tunku kurshiah
..14th Dec 1992 was the very day that changed my life forever.i bet i wouldn't be where i am now if it weren't for this very significant event.on this very day was the first time ever i stepped onto the grounds of Bukit Merbah where i was to stay and study at an all-girls boarding school called Tunku Kurshiah College
..this post is kinda belated.my batch's anniversary should have been yesterday but nontheless,it's not to late to wish the ladies of 93-97,Happy 13th Anniversary!!
..i couldnt believe it was nearly 13 years ago that i became part of the elite (hehehe, elite ape?vass gitu :-p ) kurshian family.when i first arrived in TKC,i was a shy specky chinese looking geek, dressed in my pinafore with a tight ponytail.i was "given" a college sister aka CS Besar,Siti Zaliha aka CT Zack. She was a drummer which what made me wanted to join the band.
..i was a drummer as well and later on made section leader for the percussion section.being a band member & section leader was my proudest achievement in TKC..and being prefect-laa (but section leader lagi best!).i grew up with the band.from playing old timer's tunes and being laughed at by the rest of the school (make that district of Seremban),we "bloomed" into an awesome band under the instruction of Sir Azhar, who modernized our songs as well as our moves (we were dancing while playing instruments and doing amazing formations,ok?!!)..sigh..i miss my college days.
..woops!i know im supposed to blog about college and all but whenever i think of my days in the school band,i tend to get carried away :-)..
..college actually opened up a whole load of windows of opportunity for its students.there, you were "forced" into joining clubs and society so that you could learn new skills and gain non-academic knowledge i.e band, police cadets, basketball, tennis, debate, acting, singing, art deco, public speaking and much more.not too mention being "made into" japenese, french and arabs through learning of a 3rd language..je parle francais.je suis etudiante etc etc.hehehe..
..im sure most of the TKC-ians discover their true talent(s) while in school..i learned that i could play drums, sing (siket2-laa.i WAS in the school choir and nasyid),act ( i acted as well),debate(NOT!!saje je tambah :-p ),draw&be creative, sew, cook and much much more..
..but that doesnt mean life in TKC is all bed of roses.it has it's "thorny" moments.but the good thing about it,is that there's a lesson worth learning by going through such "thorny" experiences which in turn makes one a stronger and durable person..and the best part of it all, you'll never be alone in your sorrow.there's always a shoulder to cry on and consolation of hugs&late night talks..you know you'll always have a "sister" that you can count on to look out for you.and batch 93-97 has always been for each other, through thick n thin..Viva 93-97!!
..once again HAPPY 13th ANNIVERSARY gurls!..dun forget our "date" come 2007..muuahs!!

..The Review:Narnia-The Lion,Witch&Wardrobe

The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion,The Witch & The Wardrobe

..since ive read the book before watching the movie,i could understand the storyline very well.

..the story unfolds with the journey of Peter,Susan,Edmund&Lucy to a huge mansion in the country. One rainy morning, the children were playing hide&seek when the littlest of them all,Lucy stumbles upon a huge wardrobe and decided to make that her hiding place.Little that she know, the wardrobe is the doorway to a magical place called Narnia.

..there,she met with Mr Tumnus,a faun (read:faun:-human+deer),that was instructed by the wicked Witch to capture any son of Adam or daughter of Eve (aka human) who enters Narnia. But the kind-hearted faun decided to let Lucy go instead of turning her in.Upon returning from Narnia,Lucy shares her adventure with the rest of her siblings only to be regard as "having too much imagination".

..but fate brought the 4 siblings to Narnia when they were hiding from the housekeeper who was crossed with them for breaking the window while playing cricquet. So the 4,all climbed into the huge wardrobe and viola!! they were all in Narnia.

..it turns out there was a prophercy that says something like this "peace will be upon Narnia when the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve sits upon the 4 thrones in the castle of Cair Pavel"..Which pretty much means,in a layman's term if you please, that The wicked Witch will be defeated by the sons of Adam & daughters of Eve,whom shall rule Narnia and brings back its peace, just to the people and glory to the name.

..so the story continues with the quest to save Edmund (who was 'bewitched' by the witch -->further explanation, please read the book or watch the movie.if i tell you, itll spoil the fun of it).And to seek Aslan, the great Lion, who's like the creator of Narnia-->you'll only understand this if you read the prequel to this story, "The Magician's Nephew".And vanquish the wicked Witch, who by the way,is also hunting the children,so that the prophercy wouldnt come true. Will they save Edmund and fulfill the prophercy? Please check out the conclusion at your nearest cinema..hehehe

..apparently,C.S Lewis is a close fren of JRR Tolkien. So,there might be some familiar storyline. And the war scene was also thrilling.tThe sceneries of Narnia was awesome (it was filmed in Checz Republic).i would say that the movie met my expectations, even exceeded it!!

..basically..I LOVE IT!! And i recommend this movie to everyone for a really laidback n relaxing kinda movie.

..it FINALLY worked!!

..after almost a year of blogging (eyp,i didnt realize dat?!!),i can finally put an image to my post..
..FINALLY!!
..well,for the first time ever on "wat a wonderful-ly dodol life"..i present to you...jeng!jeng!jeng!..ME..
..i dont know what i did to enable this "korok" PC of mine to actually able to allow blogger to upload my image, but whatever i did,im glad it worked,hehehe..
..nways,i actually wanted to update on my weekend-movie frenzy.i managed to talk my hunny into watching The Chronicles of Narnia with me,which in return id hafta watch The Fog (which wasnt that dissapointing).
..well,since i dah terra nk upload image, ill try to put some pics of the movie(s)..Next posting..the review...

..11th Asean Summit..

..sorry,but this post has nothing to do with the 11th ASEAN Summit that is going on at the nearby KL Convention Centre..as always,i dun haf ideas on titles for my post.

..this morning,as planned with my managers on last Friday,i left my house at 8.45am due to the road closure of all roads near KLCC.since i was "nicely" stuck in a 2 hour jam last monday,i decided to be smart and only leave the house until cloase to 9 (coz dats when the roads will be opened).

..i wasnt prepared for the shock of seeing the roads all clear and the traffic smooth flowing.if only it was like that everyday..it took me only 15minutes to reach KLCC compared to the usual 45minutes..bestnya jln kl camni!!! what a bliss! oh,its like heaven on earth :-D

..sigh..

..actually i just wanna update sumthing.initially,i wanted to update on my movie outing last weekend but ive gotta start packing to go back coz hafta hit the road b4 7pm (dats when they'll close the roads, again).guess ill just do it tomorrow then..

..cheers!..

..Childhood MeMe on..Makan-makan!!

..Food..mmm,yummy!! one of my favourite topics :-p..
..I couldnt help myself.I am a person who enjoys indulging my taste buds into new, delicious cuisines.Im not fussy when it comes to eating.I can wallop almost anything except frogs&such, petai& sekutu dengannya and "mee".sorry,i just dunno why i cant digest "mee"..when i refer "mee" as in the "mee kuning",the ones used in mee goreng mamak.those kind..but yee mee and mihun i do eat..its just "mee kuning" that I dont fancy..

..nways,i was entrusted by BeerBrat to continue this meme in the honour of human's essential need in life (what crap was that?!!)..FOOD..so,here's my list of 5 most memerable cuisines..

1.Putu Mayam
..for those who dont know, putu mayam is round in shape, white in colour and made out of rice flour (dis one,not too sure but it has the likeness of a mihun).it is usually eaten with brown sugar and "kelapa parut" (or desiccated coconut in English).

..my greatgrandma,Nenek Bee,is a Muslim of an Indian heritage.she looked after me when i was small up to i was 4 yrs old.so,she used to make this for breakfast and i really love eating up the mixture of the brown sugar+coocnut MINUS the mihun-like thingy.

..nowadays its very hard to find people selling this delicacy.i usually get it from this uncle who goes around my area on his bike, every morning.either that or my mum makes it (but not as nice as Nenek Bee's putu mayam..).whenever i eat this,it will remind me of Nenek Bee and her indian cooking.(she is still around,btw..at 103 yrs old)

2.Nasi Lemak
..im sure nasi lemak is everybody's favourite food..well,most malaysians favourite-laa.how can we survive without this milky/creamy steamed rice, with sambal that's hot it makes you cry with pleasure along with the crunchy cucumber n fried anchovies and not forgetting the yummy hard-boiled egg...syiok habis, man!!

..but the best nasi lemak ever tasted by me is the one cooked by my grandma,Nenek Ru.she makes the best nasi lemak ever,in my book of delicacies n cuisines.her rice is milky, cooked twice in a wooden container-->which preserves the aroma and the taste of the coconut milk.add that to a hot sambal, huge size of fried anchovies and kick of Nenek's famous rendang daging..widely known as rendang jual (coz she usually cookes this type of rendang only for selling nasi lemak).and then it's all wrapped in a banana leaf to retain the delicious taste..yumm!!

..after Nenek Bee when back to JB (Nenek Bee is my dad's grandma),I stayed at my Nenek&Atok's place (these are my mum's parents) along with my cousins,Nina,Jaja,Bibob and later on my sister,Fifien and my cousin Azim.my granparents sell nasi lemak for living after my Atok retired as a warden at Pudu Jail.their nasi lemak was the talk of the town, really!

..they start selling at 6-6.30am and by 8 everything was cleared.so,when i reached their house around 7.30,me & my cousins will dutily take the plates from the kitchen and place our "orders" of nasi lemak from Nenek b4 it finishes off.most of the AU3 & Tmn Sepakat folks buy their nasi lemak from my grandparents.even my frens know me as "cucu Pak Sam Nasi Lemak"..she stopped selling them after my Atok passed away in 1989.i really missed my Nenek's nasi lemak especially the rendang 'cause no one else makes her type of rendang..

3.Ais krim Malaysia
..this is like a must-have when i was a small kid.everyday without fail, after mengaji class,me&my cousins will race down to buy ais krim malaysia from this atok who stays nearby my grandparents's house.there are 4 flavours to choose from e.g orange, syrup, milo and asam boi.usually asam boi sells off very fast because it's the tastiest among the 4.

..ais krim malaysia is favoured ice in a long, transparent plastic,tube-like,tied at the ends.to eat, you'd hafta bite off the tied end and suck the ice.damn nice and cooling!(especially after a race to see who gets the ais krim asam boi)

4.Nasi goreng Ayam/Telur/Fried Rice with Chicken/Fried Egg
..i know nasi goreng ayam/telur is very common.but back when i was in TKC,during my 1st and 2nd year there, that's like 'THE food' after morning prep class on weekends.it is actually just plain nasi goreng with either ayam sambal or telur goreng with sambal.but becoz back then, the food served in the dining hall is just a bit better than "a sad state" (maybe slightly better than the food in the prison,LOL).so,to be able to buy nasi goreng ayam from the canteen is like..ermm,"fine dining".

..but our menu REALLY improved after my 3rd year there..maybe has something to do on Najib being the Minister Education..huumh..

5.Ayam mask kicap/Chicken with soya sauce
..this is a compulsary dish for raya.heck!i love ayam masak kicap eversince i could digest solid food..ok,ok..i love kicap, period. :-)..

..but ayam masak kicap on 1st day of raya can only be found in the homes of the Javanese folks.the only other person apart from my Javanese relatives, who cooks ayam masak kicap would be my Mak Lang (my dad's sister-in-law).

..on raya morning, this is dish is usually eaten with the lontong Jawa (omg!dats another childhood fav dish! BB,can i list down 6 instead of 5? LOL!!).Lontong Jawa is like ketupat but its wrapped in cylindrical-like banana leaf, and when cooked has the greenish color outside (thanx to the banana leaf) but white in the inside.it tastes just like ketupat.those who wish to taste it,can gimme a buzz and ill make some for you :-)

..sigh..i think i can list down more but the rules says only 5.so,ive honoured the tradition passed down to me and will dutily passed it on.

********************************
Rules of the meme:
1) List down 5 childhood memories of food.
2) And in the tradition of this meme, list the 4 previous taggers before yourself and then your own name at no.5.
3) Tag 3 (or more) other bloggers to continue this meme.

So here are the 4 previous taggers and myself.
1) Insane Babe in the City of KL
2) Funky Cookies
3) Teh Tarik Satu
4) Beer Brat
5) Arinamil

..And now these are the people that I hope would honour the tradition by doing the meme..
1)Yamm-ster
2)Fish in fuschia
3)Acat

..YES!!..Year End Sale-laa kawan..

..YES! YES!..

..i bet a lot of people have this word in mind today,hehehe..

..why YES u ask?omg people..its the Year End Sale!! (boyfriends/husbands/fathers..BEWARE!!! lol..)

..sale,sale,sale..i think this year records the most number of sales happening in m'sia and mainly in KL (more like, mainly at Isetan :p ).i cant even remember the number of days Isetan ISN'T having sales.

..seriously.the new year sale-->CNY sales-->Isetan KLCC anniversary sale-->Mega Sale-->KLCC anniversary sale-->Isetan group sale-->Raya/Deepavali sale-->Xmas sale..and much much more.

..see what i mean?those working in KLCC or its surrounding area can vouch me on this.if not Isetan sale, then there's the Parkson sale.im telling you, those working in KLCC and its surrounding area spend MORE compared to other folks in KL.i mean, how can you NOT check out the sale when its just like..there?!!

..ok-laa,there are people with stronger will power to withstand and supress all the shopping crave in them.but generally,i mean i would say 80% of the KLCC folks will definitely check out the sales that are happening.whether you come out empty handed or laden with plastic bags,is another issue :-)

..hummh,im not gonna write any further..

..y u ask?well becoz:
1)if nak debate on this issue, sampai esok pun x abis
2)its almost 6 now and ive got my mum n sis waiting for me in Isetan to check out the sale, thats why!! hehehe

..have a got weekend y'all.be good on the road..stay nice :-) and those working in KLCC..dtg awal on monday.jln tutup at 7.30 ok?!
